A DEMONSTRATION GARDEN FOR SOIL CONSERVATION

Good soil is more than just dirt, it is a complex living thing filled with nutrients, microorganisms, and mycorrhiza that work together to transfer nutrients to the tender roots of plants for strong root development resulting in robust, high-yield, disease resistant plants. That's why we are dedicated to being a Demonstration Garden for Soil Conservation. That's why you will see most of the principles revolve around protecting plant roots, minimizing disturbance, and using a variety of plants that each play a role as well as soil cover.

PERMACULTURE TECHNIQUES
Permaculture is a way of gardening that provides a constant reminder of how one thing affects another and that a number of small, simple steps can provide outstanding results.

FRUIT GUILDS AND VEGETABLE GUILDS
Guilds are a harmonious underplanting of plants surrounding fruit trees or vegetables that include nitrogen fixers, plants that attract pollinators, plants that repel pests, and plants that suppress weeds, help hold water in the soil snd rejuvenate nutrients. All of which ultimately serve as a mulch.
