Planting Styles

FOUR DISTINCT PLANTING STYLES

Each path has four sections demonstrating four distinct planting styles.

ABOUT THE WOODS

Woodland areas are quickly disappearing ecosystems that provide shelter and serve as a food source for birds and wildlife for nesting, foraging, and loafing.

ABOUT THE GRASSLANDS

Grasslands are quickly disappearing mini-wildlife sanctuaries that provide year-round shelter and serve as a valuable food source for a wide range of insects, birds, butterflies and wildlife.

We have a really beautiful set of native grasses here in El Paso that most people know absolutely nothing about. We are excited to familiarize El Pasoans with the seasonal texture and beauty of drought tolerant native grasses compared to very thirsty turf, and near maintenance free native grasses compared to the constant maintenance of turf.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

El Paso Children's Garden will be a Demonstration Garden for American Meadows and High Country Gardens.

We are working with Mike Lizotte, author of "Mini-Meadows", owner of American Meadows and operator of High Country Gardens, to create a custom grass and native flower seed mix for each of our poor themed grassland gardens.

And we could not be more excited to announce that El Paso Children's Garden will be a Demonstration Garden for American Meadows and High Country Gardens and we could not not be more proud.

Mike has generously opened up a world of other experts to us. We are beyond grateful...but wait there's more. Please check out the other part of this announcement under Expert Workshops.
