ABOUT EL PASO CHILDREN'S GARDEN
This is the real deal.
This is a 60-acre Destination Garden that features a three-mile walk through 32 unique themed gardens: a Skywalk, a Butterfly House, a Gift Shop; a Café; a Demonstration Kitchen, Concessions, and Banquet Services. There are eight “Little House” venue rentals seating 100-300, for corporate meetings, family occasions, weddings, and quinceaneras. There is an enclosed "Center in the Garden" with full stage, sound, and lights, serving approx. 2000 in conference seating, 1000 at 60” rounds, or cut-downs to 500.
We know. This is a big project.
We take creating a Botanic Garden seriously.
We also planned for the things that make a place of beauty a place of science and sustainability, a Demonstration Garden for Water Conservation and Soil Conservation, a place where benchmarks are weighed and met, with a Nationally Accredited Plant Collection, and a fully approved plant-centric School Curriculum ready to roll. We are all over it and we cannot wait.
Here is where we are...
We are a 501c3. We have the land. We have completed Phase 1 Environmental, a formal Traffic Study, Geotech, the landscape design of 32 gardens and schematic site design. The work on finalizing plant lists for each garden will continue for a while yet. Oh, and if you are viewing this web site that means we went public. That was a big deal.
The content here is, basically, what we have quietly shared one-on-one with hundreds of El Pasoans over the past 18 months, to an overwhelmingly heartwarming positive response. Before going public, we felt a responsibility to ensure we could answer all your questions...ok, almost all. You guys are tough.
Here is the easiest way to get your head around the project:
First. Take a quick look at our unique design elements. This is a walled garden based on a 7 path labyrinth design.
Second. Take a walk through the gardens. Get ready for an amazing journey you didn't expect. You might not even do it all in one take. (If the doors of the Garden were open today you would have to be very determined to get your three miles of steps in from beginning to end, without getting distracted along the way by the unusual, the interesting, or the little nooks and crannies that beg you to pause for a moment of sheer beauty and reverie.)
There's not another garden like this anywhere in the world.
That we can say that so confidently still amazes us. This garden will be a full-blown showstopper that you will want to come back to over and over again...where you will want to volunteer and take classes...where you will want to see your daughter get married, where you will want to have your corporate party, where you will bring your out-of-town visitors, or where you will just...have...a very nice...day.
We want this garden to exceed your expectations. We want it to be your favorite place. We want you to have many reasons to return: special features, special events, special seasons, special places. We want you to think of it with pride...with ownership. We want you to lovingly watch it grow.
After one-on-one presentations some of the statements we have heard most often are:
"Wow! You guys thought of everything."
"When you said "garden" I had no idea. This is amazing."
"Finally, a place to take my out-of-town guests."
"There's so much to do and see. I don't think you could cover it all in one trip."
"This will be a game-changer for El Paso."
Did you know labyrinths are symbolic of a journey to the center of the soul? Wander on, Pilgrim. Wander on.
