EL PASO CHILDREN'S GARDEN FOUNDING BOARD

Everybody on this Board has been part of either starting or governing large philanthropic institutions in El Paso. They are dedicated and mission driven. They are strong.  They are focused. They are relentless goal achievers. They get things done.

Katherine Brennand, Chair

Katherine Brennand's name is synonymous with the arts. She was a co-founder of the El Paso Community Foundation. Her role as a community leader initiated the Volunteers in Public Schools Program, Junior League Christmas Fair, and YWCA Credit Counseling Services. She served on the Advisory Board of the City's Museum and Cultural Affairs for ten years. She was a 2011 Woman of Impact. She has been a life-long gardener and is a Texas Master Gardener with the Texas A&M Extension Service. Her greenhouse is her happy place. 

Sharon Robinet, Vice Chair

Sharon Robinet is an accomplished business woman and entrepreneur in the communications and security industry as a partner in two companies that specialize in fire, surveillance, structured cabling and IT. She is a past President of the YWCA Board, a former Chair of the Board of UMC Foundation and El Paso Children's Hospital Foundation, a Board Member and a dedicated personal advocate for the Children's Grief Center. She is a driver known for her relentless passion in all pursuits.

Susan Hass Hatch, Treasurer

Susan Hass Hatch comes from an accounting background which is code for no details miss her attention.  She retired from the Office of Attorney General of the State of Texas as the person in El Paso who held the hand of key institutions, training them on how to effectively utilize the Crime Victims Program to benefit their patients and clients.  She was instrumental in establishing the Center for Prevention of Child Abuse at El Paso Children's Hospital. Multi-skilled and multi-talented, she formerly owned a commercial plant leasing business and is a container plant expert. She has a parrot that can carry on a conversation by himself, over 24 turtles, and six cats.

Sue Woo

Sue Woo has played a pivotal role in just about every arts organization in El Paso from El Paso Symphony to the Youth Orchestra. She was Chair of the 100th anniversary YWCA Luncheon, Chaired the campaign that built the Transitional Living Center and served on the boards for the  Holocaust Museum and the Center Against Family and Sexual Violence (CASV). She was Chair on the Founding Board of UMC Foundation and El Paso Children's Foundation and was named a Woman of Impact in 2014. As one of El Paso's leading real estate agents, she has an acute understanding of the important role amenities like El Paso Children's Garden play in providing community curb appeal to bring newcomers to our area. 

Dennece Knight

Dennece Knight is a target market specialist. She retired in 2019, after sixteen years as the Executive Director of UMC Foundation, El Paso Children's Hospital Foundation and Borderless Giving (foundations she started from the ground up). She received a national Community Engagement Award from the National  Association of Public Hospitals (NAPH) for the community campaign that created El Paso Children's Hospital. She was named Woman of Impact in 2016. She is a Texas Master Gardener with the Texas A&M Extension Service, loves anything that blooms, and believes that beautiful spaces that embrace nature heal the soul. The El Paso Children's Garden is a vision she has nurtured for over 30 years.
